The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church
Serving Southeastern Idaho

Father Constantine’s Message

Dear Faithful,

This is indeed one of my favorite seasons of the year. With the fall season upon us, the clocks have changed, the temperature is changing, the leaves have changed, but some things just do not change at Southeastern Idaho this time of year: family fellowship, feasting, pies, and fall activities!

Fellowship with friends and family is part of the Thanksgiving tradition. This year I will not be able to join you for Thanksgiving to our Lord, I will be spending the occasion with my brothers in Pennsylvania. I have been invited to celebrate my home parish's 75th Anniversary.

Let us offer up prayers of thanksgiving for all the gifts and challenges the Lord has showered upon us. Let us express our love to Him for our loved ones, for those who are less fortunate, for those we care for and for our blessed parish community. During this special time of the year we would like to invite the VIP Group for a Thanksgiving Lunch and Gathering. The VIPs are our wonderful parishioners 60 years and older.

This new ministry will gather for fellowship and take trips together as a group and with our neighboring Greek Orthodox parishes in the area. you will join us this year! Let me leave a brief thought with you. Psalm 63:3 states: Because thy loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. This verse answers the question, “What is better than life?” The Psalmist answers: Thy steadfast love! God’s love for us, demonstrated by His grace and mercy toward us, ought to move our lips to praise Him. May your life and lips be a continuous sacrifice of praise to our great God. I extend to you and your families all the blessings of Our Heavenly Lord during Thanksgiving.  God bless you!
